Does the phalloplasty leave a very apparent scar or mark?
It leaves a small scar (3 to 5 cm). If properly cared for, it is not apparent and will stay in the pubic area.
Postoperatively:
- You should not always be lying down or in the same position, and you should take short walks around the house to promote circulation.
- The medication should be taken as prescribed.
- Particularly careful personal hygiene is recommended.
- For 6 weeks, you should not engage in any intense physical activity (particularly sports).
- No sexual activity should be performed for 6 weeks and should only be resumed after your doctor’s approval…if you feel comfortable.
- Most patients can return to work and/or school within 1 to 2 days after surgery. However, it is advisable to set aside the first week for rest and recuperation.
- Don’t smoke.
- Have a balanced and healthy diet and maintain good hydration with the ingestion of liquids.
